Luxury garments you can find for next to nothing secondhand

My best friend studied textile engineering at UMIST Manchester University whilst I went to work in textile mill as an apprentice.

We both loved fabric, she interiors me fashion.

I cannot believe the amount of T by Alexander Wang and Alexander Wang to be fair available to buy secondhand on recycling sites like Vinted and EBay.

Heads up. These ready to wear staples are second to none. There’s a reason USA Vogue Editor Anna Wintour championed the designer as far back as 2008. If you can find staple garments for £10 or £20 secondhand you are going to be blown away by the quality of fabric they use if you are used to wearing high street brands and online fast fashion.

My friend picked me up this white sweatshirt. I’ve been looking for one and US brands like Mayfair, Free City or Anine Bing even secondhand you have to pay between £50 and £100.

It’s 100% ethical, not made in China (even though when Wang started his eponymous label he was helped by family members and garments were initially sourced and manufactured in China) and the luxury super soft Terry sweat fabric, a type of loop back cotton modal is 50% cotton and 50% eco textile modal which comes from trees.

There are a few brands to look out for secondhand where the fabric of your garment is going to way better than brands you may be more familiar with, James Perse, Sundry, Monrow, helmut Lang, cotton citizen, current Elliot, American vintage all use way better fabric to make their staple clothing. T shirts sweats, sweat pants, sweatshirts and you find when you start to wear better materials they not only feel so much nicer on but they look way better and last way longer too.

My friend told me she paid £10 for the sweatshirt found on Vinted. It’s absolutely divine.
