Have you ever really wanted something, you couldn’t afford it or just didn’t get around to buying and then all of a sudden the item just doesn’t hold the appeal anymore.
This happened to me with two trainers the chunky dad shoe Japanese inspired Balenciaga Triple S, the S stands for sole. The ones with the size, 37, 38 on the toe. Gosh did I want a pair of those, I actually bought a pair secondhand and then all of a sudden they weren’t so cool or desirable anymore.
And then the Golden goose Superstar, can you believe the first pair featuring the intentional hand-scuffed, "lived-in" vintage finish appeared almost 20 years ago now in 2007.
Crazy prices I remember trying a pair on and realising they run very big. I found a pair on EBay a few years later I could afford a size down for me, but didn’t buy immediately, missed them and ended up regretting not purchasing. Have you ever done that? So annoying. In the end I never purchased opting for P448 instead. I have two pairs, high tops and low tops I love, less well known but I like that, not something everyone else has got.
Yes, people still wear Golden Goose sneakers, but they are no longer the peak trend they once were. That happens. One minute everyone is wearing something and the next the buzz has worn off. Trend-focused fashion circles have largely moved on to retro, low-profile or chunkier athletic trainers (like Adidas Sambas, New Balance, and Asics), some owners still wear them as a comfortable, durable everyday staple but I definitely don’t see them so much anymore.

Like many style enthusiasts we have swapped our distressed luxury shoes for retro runners, colorful low-tops, or functional walking brands.
I am sure in a few years time the will super star will reemerge as a classic.
Don’t get me wrong I still love the Golden Goose brand and when I am feeling flush I do love to browse the store. Although I must confess almost all the things I have purchased have been secondhand, the prices are a bit eye watering.
My latest wardrobe addition is this amazing pair of embossed cowboy style boots I paid about £70 for. When I saw them I didn’t wait. Not making that mistake again. When I checked online a new pair of boots from Golden Goose this season will set you back around £700 - £1000 so I am pretty happy with mine.
And they are not going out of style anytime soon.
