Lacoste make the best long peak caps

Hat for tennis will be a Lacoste baseball cap

Lacoste make the best long peak caps

I’ve been looking for my green baseball cap after I saw Meghan Markle in a charity hat, George Zajfen Tournament Tennis For Tots; she wore to shine a spotlight on her friends charity event, through alliance for children’s rights Los Angeles. I’ve tried to buy this one but no idea how so I’ve settled on Lacoste. I like the Lacoste caps, the shape is perfect and nice long brim, I like the golfing shape, (not the snap back or trucker shape) my favourite Lacoste caps is the one with the big croc on the front retail price £37.99.

This hat is no longer available on the Lacoste website. I think it’s an older style so available through lots of other outlets but not directly from Lacoste.

I have loved the Lacoste brand since before the pastel lavender shirts and pale pink and pale blue polo shirts my father purchased and wore on summer holidays in the 1980s. I’ve always loved tennis from the time I first held a racket. I wasn’t particularly sporty and even though I wasn’t very good and lost more points than I won, tennis style has always appealed to me. And I preferred the French take from Lacoste as opposed to the American preppy looks of Ralph Lauren.

I associate Peanuts, Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown with tennis too. Loads of Charles Schultz iconic cartoons feature the characters in the court so when I saw the peanuts Lacoste collaboration I was inspired by the fun element of the French sport activewear fashion.

The brand has gone from strength to strength with high profile ambassadors from the world of professional Tennis. Djokovic, of course Daniel Medvedev, Bernarda Pera, Grigor Dimitrov, and the newest addition to the roster, this year at the Miami Open, French tennis player Arthur Fils.

Whilst we are still waiting for a high profile girl to represent the brand on court it doesn’t get any bigger than Venus Williams who despite heading up her own activewear brand these days Eleven she teamed up with Lacoste a couple of years ago to deliver a collaboration that is now highly collectible, a new silhouette for the brand created by visionary creative director Louise Trotter

“I am a long-time fan of Lacoste and have always been inspired by the brand’s innovative style, beyond its tennis roots. Louise Trotter is such a visionary and the work she has done as creative director of the House is forward-thinking, inspired and constantly evolving. I am thrilled to be working alongside her as the face of Lacoste’s new silhouette.

The one thing I am always wary of with shopping for Lacoste there are a lot of fakes about so unless I know where it’s come from I avoid secondhand or recycled.

In the past I would have decided on the green baseball hat and just purchased. Nowadays I only want to support brands I know and love or independents and charities helping not harming and that means for me telling people where things are made and by who.

Lacoste have very clear anti slavery policies on their website.
