I wrote a less than favourable snoop about Pennbury Farm a couple of years ago and then I stopped going completely.
I don’t want to live my life ranting and complaining, hoping things will get better. It’s the definition of insanity to keep repeating the same behaviour expecting a different result. Then I saw a couple of reviews extolling the virtues of the place and thought to myself am I missing something here? A lot can change in a couple of years.
And that it has.
We went back with a little trepidation and oh my I love what you’ve done with the place Pennbury Farm. The uncomfortable tables and chairs, first off, have all have been replaced by a new covered terrace area outside giving “on holiday” vibes with lovely plants, serene vibes and interesting decor. The view of the tall trees in the distance on a clear day is something to behold and clearly very well thought out.
Credit where credit is due. It’s like a complete 180% for this business. The staff are smiling and accommodating, nothing too much trouble, the menu has expanded and the food is absolutely delicious.
The chef has created some stand out dishes people are clearly coming back for, it’s busy, like the Cod Tacos and a Poke Bowl so good and unique for Leicestershire I can’t stop telling people about it. They also serve St Martin’s coffee, the flat whites are a little bit too good and the bakery cakes (vegan options too) are massive for the £3.00 - £4.00 price. The pancake stack for breakfast with fresh fruit compote is a super size portion of fluffy and light homemade pancakes. Make sure you are hungry before you order this American style plate of heaven. And they serve alcohol if you fancy a beer, a cider or glass of wine with lunch.
Even the bathrooms have had a massive upgrade, stylish cabin style cubicles definitely delivering a glamping feeling.
On a sunny day I cannot think of anywhere nicer to enjoy an outdoor coffee lunch experience than Pennbury Farm.
I am so delighted for this thriving business where so much has changed for the better and wanted to rave about it. If you like a menu that’s a little bit quirky and creative and food that is made and served with love and not super expensive either get Pennbury Farm on your radar.
What a difference. Magnificent.
